What's On This Month?

It's the month of love! Whether you're loved up or happily single, Dornoch has something for you. Take a look at our Valentine's newspost for lots of ideas of how to celebrate Valentines' day in style! Check out the Valentine's menus at the Eagle Hotel, Dornoch Castle and Grace of Dornoch.

Apart from Valentine's celebrations there are LOADS of other events taking place: Dinosaur exhibition, craft workshops, live music, Chinese New Year celebrations, Cinema, Bushcraft and outdoor fun with Go Wild Highlands, historical talks and our first car boot sale of the year!

Valentine’s Day in Dornoch

With Valentine's Day on the horizon, we have pulled together some local events for you to get involved in, as well as some fantastic Valentine's menus and suggested places to find that special present that truly says "I Love You".

 

Head to Dornoch to look for the ideal Valentine's gift and browse our wonderful range of independent shops to find that special present.

Coast Candles

Their shop on Church Street is full of hand poured candles made in Dornoch using only the finest quality ingredients.

Dornoch Stores
Dornoch Stores have the perfect range of delicious food, either for a present or to cook your loved one a special Valentine's meal. The store offers a full range of food and drink including fine wines, spirits & mixers, fruit, vegetables, meat, game, fish, cheese and dairy products with the focus on local, Highland and Scottish produce.

Cocoa Mountain
Choose your own chocolate selection for your Valentine from the wonderful range by the master chocolatier.  What better way to show you care. Cocoa Moutain re-opens on February 7th after winter renovations.

Carnegie Whisky Cellars
You can buy a wide range of whisky, gin and other spirits at the Carnegie Whisky Cellars. You can also buy vouchers or a ticket for a gin or whisky tasting. So go for a browse and find that perfect gift in this really special shop in the centre of Dornoch.

Aspen Spa at Carnegie Courthouse
Aspen spa is a haven of relaxation, the perfect place to unwind and recharge. A voucher for a massage, beauty treatment or their range of products would be a very special gift.

Dornoch Castle Hotel

Grace of Dornoch Cafe and Deli
Grace of Dornoch serve beautifully prepared and locally sourced, home cooked food. Their Valentine's evening menu will be served from Thursday 14th - Saturday 16th February so don't miss the chance to sample some of their culinary delights! Bring your own bottle of wine - only £2 corkage is charged.

Valentines's Ceilidh Tea Dance
A fun afternoon of dancing, great company and a lovely assortment of cakes. All welcome at Rosehall Village Hall on Thursday, February 14th, 2pm until 4pm

Tain Gala Valentine's disco
All primary school age children are invited to our Valentine's Day Disco. On this night we will be choosing the Gala Princess, and for the first time we are excited to announce a Gala Prince will also be selected! £3 administration. 15th February, 7pm-8.30pm.

Lairg Valentine's Dance
Get dancing this Valentine's weekend at the Laird Valentine's dance to Blue Ridge. Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10pm, Lairg community centre. Entry £10. Over 16 years only.

Embo Trust Table top Sale, coffee morning and Raffle
Take the whole family along to the Old School in Embo for a table top sale and coffee morning.  All Welcome. Saturday, February 16th from 10am-1pm.

Burns Night 2019

Join us in Dornoch to celebrate Robert Burn's Birthday!

From traditional ballads to humorous poems, Robert Burns composed some of the world's most recognisable lines of poetry and song. His birthday is celebrated accross the world every January 25th, with celebrations which often include Haggis, whisky and music!

Get involved in this very Scottish tradition this year by attending one of our local Burns celebrations.

Historylinks Museum are hosting a Burns event at the Dornoch Social club at 7.30pm on the 25th.

Enjoy at Burns lunch at the Burghfield Hotel; a 3 course lunch for just £11.50 per person. The set menu consists of Cullen Skink Tart, Ballottine of Chicken & Haggis with Cranachan for pudding.

What’s on in Dornoch: January 2019

Although January is generally a quieter month after the Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations, it is still packed full of fantastic events taking place in and around Dornoch; Burns Night Celebrations, cinema, ballet, craft workshops, quiz night and afternoon tea are among the huge range of activities taking place this month.
